Hi, and welcome to Senior Dog.
If you’re here, there’s a good chance you love an older dog as much as we do.
This website wasn’t created by veterinarians, scientists, or a big pet company. It was created by ordinary dog owners who have spent years loving, worrying about, and learning from senior dogs.
Honestly, Senior Dog started because we found ourselves asking the same questions that many dog parents ask every day.
Why is my dog slowing down?
Why is he suddenly acting differently?
Is this normal aging?
Am I doing enough?
We remember noticing small changes in our own dogs. A little less energy. More naps. Slower walks. Stiff legs after getting up from bed. At first, those changes seemed small. Then one day we realized our dogs weren’t puppies anymore.
That realization was harder than we expected.
We spent countless hours searching online for answers. Sometimes the information was too technical. Sometimes it felt confusing. Sometimes it felt like every article was written by someone who had never actually lived with a senior dog.
What we really wanted were honest stories, simple explanations, and practical ideas from people who understood what it feels like to care for an aging dog.
So we created Senior Dog.
What You’ll Find Here
Most of the articles on this website are written from personal experiences, observations, and everyday life with dogs.
You’ll find topics about:
- Senior dog health
- Senior dog nutrition
- Senior dog behavior
- Daily care and comfort
- Aging dog challenges
- Real-life experiences from dog owners
- Stories, observations, and lessons learned along the way
Some articles are based on situations we’ve personally experienced. Others are inspired by questions we’ve heard from fellow dog owners over the years.
We try to write the way we talk.
Not perfectly.
Not like a textbook.
Just honestly.
Because that’s often the kind of information we were looking for ourselves.
Our Philosophy
We believe that senior dogs deserve patience.
They deserve comfort.
They deserve understanding.
And we believe dog owners deserve support too.
Anyone who has loved an older dog knows that the senior years can be emotional. There are good days, difficult days, funny moments, frustrating moments, and memories you’ll probably carry forever.
This website is our small way of helping dog owners feel a little less alone during that journey.
